At the end of each academic year, three medals (gold, silver and bronze) will be awarded to the best submissions to the RMJ by Rwandan interns and residents. There will be each medal category for each of residents and interns. This is a new prize starting in 2018. In the future it will only be for residents and interns who graduated in the academic year. However, this year it will be open to those who graduated between 2016 and 2018.
How will the medals be awarded?
Please note that research where one of the authors is an RMJ editor (not including editorial board) is ineligible for a medal (due to the potential conflict of interest).

Step 2: Work with your supervisors to ensure that the work is the best quality possible (supervisors etc should be included as authors)

How will the medals be awarded?
- Only manuscripts that are finally accepted for publication can be given an award (i.e. including resubmissions).
- The award will be made based on the score given by peer-reviewers
- The submission must fulfil all RMJ submission criteria (click here)
- No submissions should be made to the RMJ if the article is currently being submitted/considered at another journal. Therefore, the award can only be given if the manuscript is being exclusively considered by the RMJ.
- Presentation of an abstract of the work at a conference is allowed, prior to or after submission to the RMJ.
- Only original research articles (i.e. not case-reports, reviews etc)
- Submissions that are accepted for publication will be printed in the RMJ
